Give way to all crewed (manned) aircraft

Just as nature has the food chain, aviation also has a hierarchy in terms of who must give way to who.

This means that as a drone operator you’re at the bottom of the food chain and must give way to ALL manned aircraft.

If you are using your drone for commercial or photography purposes, it is best practice to use a UHF radio so you can hear aircraft in the area.

Aircraft that are taking off and landing, particularly helicopters, may be operating at a lower level.

They can operate as low as 500 feet above ground level. You can operate your drone at 400ft above ground level, so you may be in close proximity to each other.

So you MUST give way to these aircraft, AND know what areas you are legally allowed to operate in.
